From Papercraft to Pebblecraft

When I was on holiday earlier this year, I was walking along Budleigh Salterton beach and found some fabulous large flat pebbles. Forever the crafter, I picked them up knowing I'd do 'something' with them!

I had these gorgeous stamps free with Creative Stamping magazine and they're perfect for the beach theme.

I coloured the pebble with two shades of blue to create an interesting sky, then I stamped my mermaid with the rocks and coloured the rocks in grey, adding in extra lines for texture.

I painted my mermaid's tale and added back in some of the texture which was lost under the paint, then coloured her hair and body. I outlined her with black Posca pen to make her pop.

I kept adding to the rocks to put in more texture and a shadow from where my mermaid is sat. Finally I popped on a fabulous sentiment.

As someone who has always stuck to papercraft, this was a really enjoyable project to try out, and I have a few more pebbles I collected that day so I'll be trying it again soon.
